University of Portland’s Shiley-Marcos Center Project
AAMA Accredited Testing in Oregon
QED Lab is performing AAMA-accredited window testing at the University of Portland’s Shiley-Marcos Center for Design & Innovation, a cutting-edge facility dedicated to fostering creativity, collaboration, and hands-on learning. Our testing focuses on verifying the performance of the building’s fenestration systems in accordance with AAMA 502, ensuring they meet strict standards for air infiltration and water penetration resistance. These evaluations are a critical step in confirming that the renovated building envelope delivers the durability, energy efficiency, and weather protection required for long-term performance.
This 45,400-square-foot renovation will transform the existing facility into a dynamic environment featuring The Maker Space, flexible classrooms, eight interdisciplinary shops and labs, a design studio, an art studio, and co-working spaces. The project, led by Skanska USA, Opsis Architecture, and the University of Portland, is targeting LEED Gold certification and includes a full seismic upgrade, improved site accessibility, and the addition of an elevator. QED Lab is proud to support this innovative project by ensuring the building’s envelope systems perform to the highest standards, helping create a sustainable and inspiring space for the next generation of designers and engineers.
