The Walden Mock-Up Project in Washougal
Water Penetration and Air Infiltration testing in Washington
QED Lab recently performed AAMA 502 and ASTM E783 testing at The Walden in Washougal, Washington, conducting water penetration and air infiltration tests on a free-standing mock-up. The mock-up featured an Innotech fixed window and an Arcadia sliding glass door, both critical components of the building’s exterior envelope. Our testing ensured that the systems met industry standards for performance, verifying their ability to resist air leakage and water intrusion under controlled pressure conditions. These early evaluations are essential for identifying potential installation or design issues before full construction begins—saving time, cost, and rework in later phases.
At QED Lab, we always remind project teams: test your mock-up! Performing accredited field testing on mock-ups provides valuable data on real-world performance and ensures confidence that products and assemblies will meet project specifications once installed. Through this proactive approach, QED Lab helps builders, architects, and manufacturers validate quality and deliver high-performing building envelopes that stand up to the Pacific Northwest’s demanding climate.
