Julia West Project in Portland

Water Penetration Testing in Portland

QED Lab is currently performing water penetration testing at the Julia West Project in Portland, a groundbreaking 12-story high-rise that will become the tallest mass timber building in Oregon. This development represents a major step forward in sustainable construction and social impact, providing 90 units of permanent supportive housing for BIPOC individuals and houseless elders. Our testing focuses on verifying the building envelope’s water resistance and ensuring long-term performance under real-world conditions—an essential step for achieving durability, occupant comfort, and certification standards.

Working alongside an exceptional project team—Community Development Partners, Holst Architecture, and Walsh Construction Co.—QED Lab is proud to contribute to a project that combines innovation, sustainability, and community care. Designed to achieve both National Green Building Standard and ENERGY STAR® certification, the Julia West Project exemplifies how thoughtful design and rigorous building performance testing can support lasting, equitable housing solutions in Portland.
